Direct injection. Direct injection is a technology that allows fuel to be injected directly into the combustion chamber of an engine. This technology improves fuel economy and reduces emissions. Some examples of direct-injected engines include the 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine in the Mazda3 and the 3.0L V6 engine in the Toyota Camry.
Variable valve timing. Variable valve timing (VVT) is a technology that allows the timing of the valves in an engine to be adjusted. This technology improves fuel economy and reduces emissions. Some examples of VVT engines include the 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine in the Ford Focus and the 3.5L V6 engine in the Lexus ES.
